dear family, do you recognize this location?
i was just doing the usual late-night dashboard-scrolling when i saw david’s photo in this post. clicked through, natch, because who is this jonathan, why does he have a bungalow, and where is this lovely sunset? well, i didn’t answer any of those questions…i got up to the “I’m a bride-to-be and I need a wedding photographer — help!” question in jonathan’s FAQ and clicked on the link to his sister’s blog instead. i did another quick scroll and hit the first photo (above) in this post without reading the title or text (the dashboard has trained me well); i recognized it instantly.
it being bhc. well OK, maybe my brain read the title without me realizing it, but i thought i knew that this was taken on the lodge lawn because of the position of the tree in relation to the opposite shoreline, and then the slight slope downward of the lawn. weird, right? i guess it’s not terribly weird if you think about how often i talk about the place, but jeez, all it took was an out of focus background?
p.s. in other the-internet-making-the-world-feel-tiny news, marco’s wife tiffany is a wedding photographer, and she shot the wedding of a guy i went to high school with. it’s not like these connections are implausible, but the way i found out about them, via people who work(ed) for tumblr, blows my mind a little bit every time. i still think of tumblr being very separate from my “IRL” world (what a ridiculous statement, but i can’t think of how else to explain the separation), so when they come full circle i’m always thrown off.
