i picked up six books from the library the night before my five day vacation.  i only made it through one of them, and that was because i had five hours to finish it in the car on the way home.  i don’t know why it took me so long, especially since i really enjoyed it.

but if you think about it…it’s the history of love.  the history of love.  i don’t think it’s something that can really be gobbled up in one sitting.  i felt that urge to keep reading, that feeling that made this book a page-turner.  but i also felt the urge to read a sentence and stop, to let that sentence roll around in my head before i could completely absorb and appreciate it.  it was frustrating and amazing at the same time.  not like i would know what the history of love is, but i think krauss did an excellent job capturing the exact pain of the heart mixed with the vast beauty of the lifelong emotion.

the story made me feel full and empty, and by the end my head hurt with the pressure of tears that were about to spill over.  my heart hurt too.
