Two things slightly related to this picture:
Betsy’s kitchen looks exactly like this one, except reversed (you stand facing the sink and the stove/oven are on your right instead of your left). She even has the little rounded shelves on the end of the cabinets above the sink. No pegboard though.
I don’t have any memory of this, but apparently I’ve seen Meryl Streep in the flesh! Our families were visiting the Museum of Natural History in New York and we passed each other upon entering/exiting. Exciting story, eh? I’m glad I’m able to remember how god-awful bored I was, trudging through endless exhibits, and not something as life-altering as seeing Meryl Streep.
i love this picture. just look at that guy on the floor! what a trooper.
i read julie & julia in preparation for the movie, but i must say, i was disappointed by the book. i think the movie trailer got me all excited about the julia child story (and helloooo, it’s meryl streep), and the book didn’t seem to deliver on that part. i finished the book thinking, “well, that was a bunch of chapters about a woman complaining about the messes she got herself into.” there was certainly more to the story than that, but don’t ask me what.
i’m much less excited about the movie now, but i’ll still probably go see it because (one more time for those in the cheap seats) it’s meryl streep as 6 feet 2 inches of fabulousness. and stanley tucci.
